most irc clients will have the p2p network server already added to server list but you can just google it to get the exact server name...once you connect to the irc server you can just type "/msg USERNAMEHERE what.you.want.to.say.here" (NO QUOTES) hit enter and a new window will pop up with your conversation with said member

/msg doesn't open a new window per se. Depends on settings/client/whatever.

I know P2P.Network.net. Their website: P2P-NET

Channel is on the server irc.p2p-network.net
Ports: 6666, 6667, 6668, 6669,
and for SSL: 6697, 7000th

jack, your best bet is join the server : irc.p2p-network.net and then type "/list" and join one by one channel related to your tracker or your friend and find his nick on the channel.

type /whois on the person you're trying to contact. It should show the channels they're on too
