    Let Me In

    Release Date: October 1, 2010
    Studio: Overture Films
    Director: Matt Reeves
    Screenwriter: Matt Reeves
Starring: Kodi Smit-McPhee, Chloe Moretz, Richard Jenkins, Elias Koteas, Cara Buono, Sasha Barrese
    Genre: Horror, Thriller
    Plot Summary:
"Let Me In" tells a terrifying tale about an alienated 12-year old boy named Owen (Kodi Smit-McPhee) who is viciously bullied by his classmates and neglected by his divorcing parents. Achingly lonely, Owen spends his days plotting revenge on his middle school tormentors and his evenings spying on the other inhabitants of his apartment complex. His only friend is his new neighbor Abby (Chloe Moretz), an eerily self-possessed young girl who lives next door with her silent father (Oscar nominee Richard Jenkins). A frail, troubled child about Owen's age, Abby emerges from her heavily curtained apartment only at night and always barefoot, seemingly immune to the bitter winter elements. Recognizing a fellow outcast, Owen opens up to her and before long, the two have formed a unique bond.

Yes, it's that one. I watched it last year and you should be able to find it on most trackers in Swedish language. Subtitles are available, of course.

Beware, the first edition of the retail subtitles were a shit translation. Not even worth your time. Lots of errors and some parts where they don't even translate what's being said.

doesn't seem too interesting, more like a variation of the vampire theme involving children (we already had plenty of adult & teen vampires)

Recognizing a fellow outcast, Owen opens up to her and before long, the two have formed a unique bond.
nonsense, there's nothing in common here, its like a killer befriends a bullied person for some (unbelievable) reason and she's obviously no kid (vampire life-span), so they may be actually playing in/bordering the pedo field here

    edit:
    didn't watch the original yet

Finally took my time and watched this movie! I must say it's pretty ok. I don't know what's original like, cuz I didn't watch it. Main characters did pretty good. I also must say I expected a little more horror.

I, myself was thoroughly disappointed by this film.
There's one part near the end where the girl-vampire-hess rescues her friend by swooping down and thrashing the daylights out of the bad-boys.

Basically, it was a puppy-love story of kids running away in the end with no money, no real way of earning income so that they can eat like normal vampires and humans living in blissful harmony, no real home other than a suitcase where the she-vampire-hess lives (can you imagine living in a suitcase!!??)
I'm surprised that the producers didn't even provide a camper-van for the young couple on their journeys to where-ever now.

And speaking of living in suitcases, I always wondered why vampires never became a more social and economically stable race.
It's because they're the laughing stock of the undead community and are the lowest on the "most scariest" list!!
Kind of like doctors. They both like blood except that doctors are torture hobbyists and can only be kept away with 'an apple-a-day" and vamps, being a kin of doctors, further evolved into some strange sub-sub-species of Homo Sapiens called Emo Sapiens.

Overall--ya. I was disappointed in this flick. Is there anyone I can complain to about getting a refund on bandwidth??

I dunno. I'd disagree with you on vampires not being scary SealLion.

It's true that their current machinations are watered down and have been absorbed in to pop culture to such a degree that they've been proverbially sapped of their fear-inducing potential--but at their core, the fears that made them respected in the first place are still feared... from explanations for lust, to a pseudo-political satire of the divide between the culturally elite and the bourgeois--there's a vampire to fit nearly every bump in the night. And until society stops fearing, the vampire will always be a representation of that fear made living.

To make the modern vampire scary again, they need to make it representational of what our culture finds repulsive or fear-inducing. I've read the book this movie was based on, and I think it does a much better job at doing just that. The entire atmosphere surrounding the story is nauseating--pedophiles, junkies, and maimed twisted remnants of humanity. It's like the personage of vampirism as seen through the lens of a William Burroughs poem. The book can go to a level that the movie version couldn't even remotely touch if they wanted to release it to a mainstream audience.

People complain that everyone today is "desensitized". And that "nothing is shocking". But personally I feel that it's due to the fact that the status quo is not willing to be shocked anymore. It's too personal. It hits too close to home. And no one wants to watch a movie that could potentially fuck up their friday night. This is yet another reason the modern vampire has taken such a turn towards the "sparkle"--no ones willing to see it's modern embellishments in all it's morbid glory.

    And I think that's a real shame.
