Installation:
1. Download and install Azureus (if this is a Beta/CVS update, download the latest NON BETA release) (Azureus : Java BitTorrent Client - Download).
2. Optional: If you want to make a backup of your old Vuze version. Go to the install directory and rename Azureus2.jar to Azureus2.jar.bak
3. Extract the RAR using WinRAR (WinRAR archiver, a powerful tool to process RAR and ZIP files) or equivalent to %PROGRAMFILES%\Azureus (C:\Program Files\Azureus) and overwrite ALL files.
4. Run Azureus and Enjoy!

Troubleshooting:
Before posting problems please make sure:
1. You have updated Java Runtime Environment (JRE) to version 6 (Java SE Downloads).
2. You have removed the Azureus folder in %PROGRAMFILES% (C:\Program Files\Azureus).
3. You have removed the Azureus folder in %APPDATA% (The folder may be hidden).
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Azureus for XP
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Azureus for Vista
4. Reinstalled Azureus using the package from Azureus : Java BitTorrent Client - Download
5. Re-applied the hack from the downloaded RAR.

Warning: Performing steps 2 and 3 will wipe your torrent list and Azureus settings.


Single Exe version (All in One)
Single Exe version doesnt need Vuze installed on your PC just download, extract and run the exe. Only java is needed to be installed.

Additional Info:
You can upgrade from a previous version seamlessly - your torrent list will not be lost.

Thanks, it was the protocol data, upload now lists zero, but once in a while the protocol data does get very high. I also noticed that protocol data only went really high when i was connected to a lot of peers, which makes sense, so yeah thanks again.

would it be possible to code the mod to use also this portable java?
say, you can enter a java path in the .ini of vuze or just into a vuze sub-directory called "java".
dont know really, but wouldnt it be easy to code this, all one have to do is set the paths in vuze which originally are used for an installed java? or is that wrong thinking?

i think a lot of people would be greatful for such a portable..

Took a while to read the whole thread I had the same problem as jack20201900: no splash-screen, no toolbar icons, no doubleclick on torrents for stats (XP SP3, Java 1.6.0_16). I switched to the Classic UI as suggested by anon and it works fine.

java doesn't work like this...there isn't a path which could be changed.

I've DL-ed 4.2.0.8 version, and overwritten everything with files from this archive, and when I go to Help->About screen, it says it's version 4.2.0.4 (it's displayed on the lower left corner of the screen, too; on the center of the status bar, it's displaying the SBI X mod version). Is this ok?

Because 4.2.0.7 is a CVS core, if I'm not mistaken. It's the version next to the blue "SB-I MOD" that matters.

Ok so i had to go on Windows and download it and extract it and bring it to my Mac.
So i trasnferred everything from the zip file to the vuze directory.
I run Vuze and i see the mod.
i tried downloading a torrent and its stuck on downloading with all 0's across nothing, technically its not downloading.
I'm on Snow Leopard 10.6
Any suggestions?

If I remember correctly, there were such issues with 4.2.0.7 and Snow Leopard. If they don't persist when using the official Vuze 4.2.0.8, you'll have to wait until we release a newer CVS core to non-Members.
