I tried to get talking again during the summer holiday. It took 15 days to get a response. I replied the following day, and it looks like I'm currently in the process of waiting another 15. Oh well

I understand people get busy, but I honestly can't wait that long myself.
It's probably not the case for you though, but I always feel like this is disrespectful and shows a lack of interest. It's probably just me and I end up screwing friendships up because of it.
This probably didn't help at all, but I get annoyed about this often enough to feel pissed off again reading you're in that situation.
It is. After the first day, I'll reread my message to see if there's anything that may be misconstrued as negative... and some days later, I'll arrive at the same conclusion as you. But I don't call people out on it because the base chance of something good coming out of that is approximately 0%. Maybe you'll get a reply in the future (if they were curing cancer and solving world hunger and only had satellite dial-up during those two weeks), or maybe not, but you'll be no worse off in either case. "Always look for stuff that makes you feel good" and all that.
Besides, I have Operation Get My Job Back and Operation Crack Some Wireless Passwords to put my mind to in the meantime... remember what the stockbroker Saul and Kim scammed to get free drinks said... diversify

Everyone (her included) has Internet on their phones these days, so I doubt my mistake is using the wrong way to communicate.

well i wouldn't go that far. If u r barely in contact then it simply means u know nothing about their life and their situations.
But i wouldn't expect anything from them either coz it may also be a case that it is lack of interest. expecting less n not thinking about it is the perfect solution.If u don't get a reply nothin is lost coz u weren't expecting that in the 1st place and if u get a wonderful reply that would be a surprise for u and will bring a smile on your face.
We shouldn't end something that means something to us due to some delay n long distances. I have many friends that i rarely speak with. i have a bff and she's in new zealand now. we barely speak and last time we spoke was around 3 months back. But we both know i am here for her and she's there for me. whether its happiness or sadness .we will always be here for each other. :)

the solution is simple and hard at the same time
you want to have a positive view on the world? then start doing things that will provide such a view (actively pursuing that goal), example: whatever happens to you or in the world, keep a positive attitude - simple, right?
you experience something very nice? keep a positive attitude!
you experience something nice? keep a positive attitude!
you experience something neutral? keep a positive attitude!
you experience something bad? keep a positive attitude!
you experience something awful? keep a positive attitude!
something very nice/nice/neutral/bad/awful happened in the world? keep a positive attitude!
in the end, no matter what may happen will make you lose that positive attitude, in fact, you'll be getting some deeper insight into life since a positive attitude is useful for getting in touch with our essential goals
it is impossible to lose, it is possible to choose a more difficult road towards victory!
either way, its a win-win scenario again
