Uh-oh... there's a little big misunderstanding here, which I'm entirely to blame for due to my lack of elaboration. I'm not romantically involved, nor would I be - she's twice my age, and is married with 3 kids. So that would be awkward at best.
I said special because, hmmm, it's a bit hard to explain. I'm in good terms with everyone else at work (except the chair snatcher, but hey, can't please everyone
) and treat them with respect as they do with me, but they're well, just coworkers. I don't feel anything out of the ordinary about them. But with her it's different. For
some reason I simply deeply appreciate her company, and have been doing extra hours for some time now (under the pretense of getting more things done), just so that we could be together for longer each day. She's as nice as she's skilled, and both qualities are desirable and appreciated, of course, but besides that I have no logical explanation. I do however think this feels great and don't want to lose it. Hence the gift as a way to say at least "I think you're awesome, and here's a thanks for that".
