Hey! Is this normal for my internet connection? I have that shity ADSL and we all know that after 24h being connected it reset and gives you new IP, but lately I've notice that it doesn't reset when it reaches 24h mark. Right now it says 1day 2h.
I knew a friend of mine by-passed that daily IP change by deactivating it in the router. Dunno if it's possible with your connection though.
Why do they have that system? Isn't it easier for them to assign a single IP and leave it to you until you're done?
"I just remembered something that happened a long time ago."
It's meant to be a security feature. If a hacker identifies a target he just has a maximum of 24h to finish his attack or the targeted user will have a new IP which the potential hacker doesn't know.
Here in Europe we can "afford" this because we have more IPs than users. Unlike Asia where the exact opposite is the case.
Does Port Forwarding provide any other benefit except making ports available outside the network? I mean, is there any benefit on using this on utorrent's communication port? Will it increase download speed or response time?
What's that?recommendable for P2P due to the reasons we're all aware of

What exactly is the difference between Port Forwarding and Virtual Severs (in my router I only have virtual servers)?
Similar question: what about difference between QoS and Bandwidth Management? Are they the same? Can trafic shaping be done in either of these?
From what I can tell, bandwidth management allows to restrict ingress and egress speeds.
I'm trying to do traffic shaping in my router but I guess I can't. What I want is to be able to watch youtube vids and other streaming sites while utorrent uses full bandwidth. Basically, temporary allow 30-40% of bandwidth to whoever requests it, then when it ain't used anymore redirect it to utorrent again.
