Whatever you do, don't try the latest Opera. Its stability is only second to that of a nitroglycerin jar during an earthquake. I can't tell you to stick to 10.63 (which hasn't crashed at all since I downgraded), because it's old. Oh, lost greatness...
My suggestion would be either Chrome or IE9. Their respective developer teams did things right.

Chrome is what you are looking for. It will be better than firefox in no time, if not already.
If you want chrome just use chromium daily builds and your internet life will be a lot more faster. So fast it will sometime crash
Index of /f/chromium/snapshots
Get SRWare Iron if you must use Chrome. FF is better, so no need to change. If you want both, use the portable versions.
Firefox but I like the new IE 9,its fast too!
All up to date browsers are kinda on par right now.
I use chrome cause i tried it about 2 years ago and I haven't managed to import my stuff back to FF. I'm too lazy.
Opera is fast and full of features but might be considered bloated by many.
Safari is not an alternative browser on the windows platform, and Firefox in progressing steady.
I recommend you tried em all and choose whatever best fits your needs.
As for some thoughts on user experience. I've heard a lot of people complain about Firefox stability but I've never encountered the problems I've had with Chrome on any other browser. I had crashes after crashes, and I've constantly used different versions of it from stable to beta and nightly. I've seen GPU crash from "features" in the browser, CPU hogs from other "features" and on a more frequent basis total program crash (forking at it's best) with no way to recover open tabs.
Maybe others have had a better experience but at the end of the day it really disappoints me from time to time, but i really don't have the guts to import everything back to FF. I still use Firefox but just for development and testing.
Almost forgot, IE has done a nice job in the last version too.
I use Camino now because I'm temporarily with a old Apple ibook g4... It's cool!
Back with an update. A lot of people are dissing on Firefox as being slow, but after testing the latest nightly version I can say that not only it starts faster, but it has beaten chrome nightly in the javascript tests. It's not by much and by the time they launch the stable or aurora version the two browsers might be on the same level but it's good to see that everything is going smoothly in the firefox world. And btw, firefox is getting the x64 version a lot of people wanted for a long time
I use firefox ! but it is slow ...
but I tried opera & chrome but I always come back to Firefox ! (Chrome crash every time I open it !!)
