    Microsoft Essentials is second last

    Bitdefender first
Bitdefender is a resource hog in my opinion . I only trust pcmag reviews which seem fine to me , although i don't agree perce about norton being editors choice . Probably is just for the ad

You can also try AVG. I have almost the same specs as you and it's works fine. I'm running it on my laptop and my PC. I was using Nod32 too but changing that license and looking for new ones every month made me change it.

You don't need to do that with NOD32 2.7.

    That old thing?
Last time I used that I made the mistake of getting that stupid comodo firewall, I'm not sure if that one, and my internet connection was down forever( or until I installed windows again).

you don't trust nod32 because they had an sql vulnerability on their website? LOL. tinkode's site is insecurity.ro - he's notorious for finding sql exploits and injection possibilities on high profile sites. it's what he does. the websites of these companies are not written by the same coders which wrote the software

nod32, avira & kaspersky are the big three avs. they are the avs that the malware scene use as their litmus - i.e. if they can bypass those three products, they can bypass anything. their heuristic detection rates are unmatched. the tests that organisations perform are very poor and are far from a true reflection as to how the products perform in real world scenarios.

LOADS of sites are getting hammered by mysql attacks during the last year - due to tools like havij becoming so popular and a million and kiddies thinking it's cool to do stuff like this - even mysql.com was done over recently :) MySQL.com hacked via... SQL injection vuln ? The Register

either way - we're getting off topic here...
