And if it wasn't for his generous dift, now I would be using a Intel e5200 2.53Ghz Dual-Core with 2GB of RAM and 512MB video AMD 5540. Depends on how much you wanted to learn those things. I started Android development and working on one of these 2 years ago: ASUS X51RL-AP190P - 15.4" - Core 2 Duo T5450 - Win XP Pro - 2 GB RAM - 250 GB HDD Overview - CNET
Try starting an emulator on one of those and see how many minutes you wait for it to just start.

he said he wanted to do C though, which the dual core is good enough for imho. Unless he meant objective-c, which is something completely different.
You can do C on a Raspberry Pi and it will still go decently.
