You Nikon Plebs! Join me on the Canon side!

Decent starters-camera, but shouldn't have bothered with the kit lens. It's horrible :)
In case budget is low, save up for a Nikon 50mm f/1.4 or 1.8 next! They're not too expensive but really really good.

    (1.8 is +- 100 dollars, 1.4 is 300)

Never forget, the lens is the most important part A good body with shitty lens makes for shitty pictures. A shitty body with good lens takes pretty decent pictures

18-55 mm lens kit is decent and pretty good although 55-200mm lens is okay-ish,average, not so good in low light plus noisy auto focus but i bought it anyway coz i was gettin it cheap.. i'll use both lenses for about a year .. in that time i'll gather some real good cash and will buy an awesome Lens

Don't laugh, I know plenty of people with a 3000 dollar body and a damn kit lens mounted on it :/

If you're just starting out, they're more than alright, though. It's better to discover photography with a kit-lens than go all out right away. You'll learn to overcome its defects better that way as well, so you'll be able to use a good lens better in the end!

That's why the fixed focus lens I suggested is very interesting. It's far easier to make a fixed one, so they're only a marginal part of the cost of one that isn't fixed. A similar lens would easily cost 5-8 times as much.

While fixed can be a little annoying in the beginning, they certainly grow on you and you'll love the lens.

Plus, it will teach you to think about the picture you're taking, since you'll have to physically move more often and get the right angle
