the movie was a joke in every single way (many illogical/nonsensical events, annoying motion/speed manipulation, weak acting, it all felt so fake), except for design (sets, costumes, makeup) which was somewhat entertaining and the fact that it was quite different from the usual post-apocalyptic movies we get these days

If it wasn't, it would not have connected with the old movies at all. I'm pretty sure this is by design. You honestly can't hate something for that.
