Hope it will be good, I love the special effects even though this series doesn't have a too much elaborate plot.

rather entertaining and pretty good in the visual department, but very inconsistent & lacking regarding many things like:

    *spoilers ahead*

    - from some of the best cgi this year (the opening scene, transformers close-ups) to some of the worst for a big budget movie (car toys, crater-less explosions, indestructible/regenerating environment, generic effects for lesser scenes like asphalt dust under transformer feet)
    - from the good opening dino scene into the eye-rolling following one featuring: 'orders to kill' by the 1-man security & the lone metal detector in the middle of the arctic
    - from brilliant inventors who can't pay their bills to transformers teleporting atoms across the highway and rebuilding themselves on the fly
    - from humans being more powerful than transformers (dictating terms of their relationship) or government disinterested in the technology
    - from incompetent transformers (being hunted like some animals), owing something to the main movie characters
    - ultra smart autobot creators sending only 1 maintenance transformer to handle numerous other autobots & decepticons (A&Ds), in charge of their lockdown
    - ultra smart autobot creators regretting their not-so-smart idea to invent/build A&Ds (sound familiar? creation of supposedly flawed humans!)
    - government representatives crawling in front of private company managers, playing the PR front for the companies, aren't allowed to know any specifics about projects involved in national security matters? riiight
    - so when a room goes dark, there is an exchange of personnel who operate the computers in the room? would the cia start using offices/desks/computers of the local police? didn't think so
    - where did the rally guy come from? hiding from the dad? cool tire-meets-face scene though
    - extremely lame siege/chase after the awakened optimus prime and an awful/fake car jump scene at the end of it
    - that drone comes in handy many times, must be real easy to program proprietary software that also conveniently has some memories, eh?
    - annoying bickering autobots & punk-ass attitudes outstaying their welcome
    - mind-controlled/programmed transformium? how come autobots, made of that stuff, cannot do the same yet random humans can? can you picture things in your mind in any kind of serious detail? transformium must be good at guessing too
    - was that 50 prototypes? who even does that, what budget can allow it, with no market ready yet and with no live tests done yet, a huge company depends on one deal, who runs such lame multi-billion companies?
    - ex-cia guys are threatened by private company CEOs? that one cia guy without any paperwork can take control of a whole private company?
    - you gotta deliver the seed, grab the stick, best hands in the business...
    - but an autobot won't kick your butt if you tell him that you own his ass/dna?
    - the maintenance transformer doesn't know what happens on his spaceship (most of the time), no cameras or sensors in their world
    - nonsensical physics/biology: people flying though the air & getting tossed by transformers would break at least their neck if not getting crushed in the process, you can run through a truck with a transformer and the truck won't move much from the impact
    - props to nicola (or her jeans) for high-speed rolling over the highway asphalt with no serious bruises hehe
    - dark matter drives running on theory? the spaceship needs anchors because it is a ship?
    - wahlberg's sword/gun was pretty laughable in every aspect (design, its purpose on the ship, its 'mighty' sound,...), he has better precision than machine-guided automated nanosecond-level aiming systems, wow!
    - humans cannot distinguish between autobots or decepticons! however, metaphorically speaking it does make some sense (A=good, D=bad, A&D representing dualities) in the way humans have trouble distinguishing, not to mention looking beyond those dualities
    - megatron needs the seed to conquer humans, being a huge advanced decepticon is not enough, heh
    - the asian/chinese angle should come in handy to please their huge market, notice many recent movies playing with this angle
    - legendary dinobot warriors are basically useless as actual warriors, but they do work good as transportation animals & at recycling decepticons!
    - worthless decepticon forces cannot match the autobots with or without the dinobots, wahlberg's weapon was probably what decided the outcome, its mighty sound kept spreading sheer terror throughout the enemy ranks
    - decepticons rebuilt from inferior materials means they are useless as a threat to the autobots, ie. point of the whole franchise is lost, decepticons being virtually shoved under the carpet
    - transformers cannot escape from a slowly moving giant magnet (just an excuse for more effects hehe)
    - seems the maintenance guy was not good enough for the job, they needed an (uber)legendary warrior (more legendary than the dinobots, mind you)
    - and optimus doesn't need a spaceship to fly through outer space

    other good stuff:
    - wahlberg > shi'a l' bluff
    - interaction between wahlberg & his daughter (unless you missed it while your eyes got glued to those ever shortening shorts hehe)
    - interaction between the company CEO & his delicate kung-fu flower babe (wasn't allowed to flourish though)
    - some of the jokes, when not taken too far (into a string of jokes or bickering)

food for thought (a transformers movie can make you think!):

humans are not the center of the universe?
if you think of your own life as a universe, from your perspective, you really are at its center and everything else (metaphorically) revolves around it - the same applies to any other human or any other being as well, they are all relativistic centers of their own universe(s), which share elements with each other (similar experiences, interactions, interconnectedness) - likewise, your own life's journey is the most important thing for you and not someone else and vice versa, someone else's life cannot be the most important thing to you (temporary cases like children or marriage get close, though these universes still only overlap significantly) - in this sense it doesn't really matter what the actual universe looks like (which is also relativistic, depending on who observes, how is it observed, what is observed,...), your own universe matters the most, other universes act as points of interaction, comparison, revision of your own perception (of your own universe) - at the objective center of all these universes is one's true self (what you are), at the subjective center of all these universes is one's current idea of self (what you currently think you are), the goal of your life's journey is to align your current self with the true self at which point 'that which you think you are' is identical to 'what you truly are', aka enlightenment, applies to any & every other being (of a similar or lower level) as well

what about egoism or self-centeredness? it is an extreme form of attachment to one's current self, worshiping one's apparent status/characteristics/body/mind, obsessing about personal gain or image, feeding the illusion, ignorance of an overall equality of individual universes, resulting in ignorant behavior/actions/goals/... - the opposite of this is not selflessness (attachment to one's true self), but servitude (extreme attachment to someone else's current self)

oh wow, that was actually pretty good...but then comes the nonsensical follow-up:

but, but, they were not after planet earth in the first place! if these creators really wanted optimus back, they would have simply programmed him to come back - the interesting thing here is that this actually happened (he is indeed coming back!) and in the meantime the viewers got their share of entertainment as well

I finally watched it. I get why people dislike this movie, but I enjoyed every second!
It probably has something to do with being my childhood favorite cartoon. Although I would kinda like for M.Bay to steep down and someone else would direct!
