Two years ago I bought a pair of Casti Sennheiser Over-Head HD 201 - PC Garage. The problem with these expensive, hq headset is that they require a relativelly big source of power than our onboard cards can not provide. The sound outputted is really low if you have no dedicated card.

And this is my problem: I know manufacturers don't give a f^# and they'll create one driver and never, ever update it again. Especially for soundcards.
I don't want to buy something that I'll have a problem with in the future. Even so, this will force me to return to 2$ headsets which is not desirable but the sound is verry loooooud.

I don't know what to do.
    Either:
    1. I buy the soundcard and enjoy it while it lasts (as long as driver is updated)
    2. I buy crap a headset and don't need a soundcard but less quality

Get a decent sound card. Most of the time, drivers won't require an update anyway.

Say I buy it now. What's gonna happen in 1 year or 2 when Windows 9 gets released and driver starts to be buggy?
I'm gonna have to buy a new one I suppose.

I seem kinda a freaked right now, I know. This is due to all my life having webcams, usb headsets and others in which had only drivers made for vista that barely worked for vista!!

driver model just got reworked. that hasn't happened since xp. I think you're safe for quite a few years.
that being said, xp drivers still work on win8 if you turn on compa mode. I got my mobile ati radeon hd 1600 card working in win8 with 10 year old drivers that haven't received an update for win7 even. I think a simple sound card is pretty future proof :) They won't touch the driver model in win9 or probably even win10.

just my two cents though.. that being said, if you're ever going to get a sound card, now that it just got a rework it's the time to go for it.

Option 3: get a usb headset. Those have built in sound cards. Generic UPnP drivers work on those as well (and will always be included in windows). Well, i haven't had issues anyway.

    Yup, ye'll see... me mighty!
One page of multiple choice, two pages of "fill the word", and writing a 200-word essay about a given topic. I could have aced this when I was 13, let alone now.

Let's see what happens in the oral exam next week.

Hey anon, what's the status on SB-I's IRC? Is it still operational? If so, what's the address?

Problem is that irc has mostly died out. Back in the day, I had easily 20ish channels I was active in. Today I would have to keep the program installed just for sbi.. Precious ssd space

IRC back in the day was the quickest and arguably the best way to download stuff. Type a simple command to to 10-15 bots present catering different genres and content and direct download starts from the bot.

There was no need for Newsgroups, no sharing needed for Kazaa, Limewire or Napster nor dependent on a new method of sharing known as Bittorrent.

Of course the scene prefers IRC till date for security purposes, but for general usage i would agree it's pretty much on the decline.
