that looks quite promising and would make a good start for a row of new ape movies. i liked the originals very much so i wouldn't mind a few well done new parts

just what the worlds needs - more cgi-fests. the whole trailer looks too glossy. wish this heavy reliance on cgi would die already. it just looks fake, incredibly fake.

There isn't really all that much that producers and technicians can use. At least as far as I know there isn't. I suppose it is also heavily dependent on the expertise level that the technician's themselves have with making and manipulating cgi's and the intended effects too. Though, I do strongly agree that after watching the trailer, one can see the 'fake' effects of the cgi's. For instance the faces of the apes is one. They exude a more 'human' display. Though I don't know if that effect is directly intended or not so as to illustrate in some way, the evolution of apes towards a more human and subsequent technological level. That is humans have advanced technologies for their use and animals from the wilderness have a lesser level of technological use within their respective environmental domains.

IMHO, nothing beats the originals from whence came this film.
    "God, from the mount Sinai
    whose grey top shall tremble,
    He descending, will Himself,
in thunder, lightning, and loud trumpet’s sound,
    ordain them laws".

A single act of both compassion and arrogance leads to a war unlike any other
it was only egoism & unprofessionalism
how is a war between 2 species unlike any other?
btw. what was shown in the movie was localized conflict, not war

CGI ape that delivers a dramatic performance of unprecedented emotion and intelligence

it was nothing special, on the contrary, the ape was 'acting' human-like, which is ofc ridiculous since an advanced ape would still act like an ape, unless one believes silly theories where humans evolved from apes
what they call emotion was crude exaggeration, what they call intelligence was simpleton actions

    epic battles
lol, the battles were anything but epic, actually there was only one short battle (bridge) which occurred near the ending - it was downright embarrassing, where human forces acted like idiots and the apes were unrealistic (chopper scene)

on which rest the upended destinies of man and primate.
wrong, those apes wouldn't last a week in that forest since they had no answer against human advanced weaponry (spears vs. automatic rifles = pwnd )

of man? what happened to woman? ...its called 'human' :duh:
    btw. (hu)man=primate (as in species)

also, unless you're clairvoyant (well, not even they would know), there is no telling what their destinies would be, regardless of who is more intelligent or powerful & despite the odds

other than that the movie turned out pretty laughable, quite unrealistic and certainly unsatisfactory, it was SF missing the science part and fiction lacking adult scriptwriters

for better movies from the 'planet of the apes' franchise see:

Planet of the Apes (1968) very good
Planet of the Apes (2001) good

for other better movies with apes see:

    Congo (1995)
    Gorillas In The Mist (1988)
King Kong (1933) dated but decent
    King Kong (1976,2005)
Tarzan the Ape Man (1932) dated but decent
