1's viDrop and 2's AVS Video Editor. I don't know if they're the best, but they're what I've tried and found to like the most. The editor is also pretty easy to use if you're a newbie, which is my case.

Can't really comment on point 3.

I have been using AVS applications since almost 3 years now. They seem to dominate Video converter/editor world

Pros: The software is versatile, powerful and works well.

Cons: The help files are a hard to find (hint: press F1).

The Verdict: AVS is a very usable video converter with support for HD formats.

I don't know whether AVS is better for video or something but SUPER video converter converts anything to anything so you might want to check that one out too. As far as video editing goes I strongly suggest Sony Vegas.

I've tried to edit videos only twice with Movie Maker. Used MP4 Converter program to convert the vids.. Simple and fast converter

for editing use either Ulead Video studio or Pinnacle (simpler methods) or Adobe Premiere...also a nice little program for video editing / screen captures is Camtasia Studio
