2x utorrent but 1 torrent folder

hi, i have a homeserver which runs 24/7 with utorrent. i also got a laptop which i use to download torrents. Now both have the same download directory (for the .torrent files aswell as for the downloaded files).

How can i do something like this:

Download .torrent file with laptop + download with utorrent on laptop
Restart utorrent on server and to re-load all new .torrent files.

So i would e.g. download with my laptop + utorrent test.rar
test.rar aswerll as test.torrent gets saved on a network shared harddisk (P:/Downloads)
I will now start utorrent on the server , it should scan P:/Downloads for new torrents and add them + seed/finish downloading them.

is something like that possible? i couldnt rly get it work.

    thx bb

I think you need to add the .torrent files to server utorrent and re-check the files in P:/Downloads to make it work because the resume.dat is not gonna be same.

Or you can copy entire .torrent files and resume.dat from your laptop utorrent dir to your homeserver.

    Hope that helps.

I think you can.You should import the settings folder for utorrent from your laptop to the server.I think it might work.If not then manually load every torrent you download with your laptop to your sever and do a hash check.

    nono u got me wrong

i have utorrent runnign on my server 24/7
now i run utorrent on my laptop and download smth there (but the file + the .torrent file is getting saved in the same folder as my homeserver saved its files in). Now i want the utorrent from my server to reconize this new files automatically too (e.g. with restarting utorrent on the server).

Go to your laptop, Preferences -> Directories -> tick "Move .torrents for finished jobs to", and make that a new, shared network folder.

Then go to the same place in your server, tick "Autoload .torrent files from", and choose the folder you set in your laptop. Also untick "always show dialog on manual add", and make sure the "Put new downloads in" path at the top of that dialog box is the same where the files are (make sure it's the same for your laptop as well, otherwise uTorrent won't find the files).

Now, every time your laptop finishes a torrent, it'll move its metadata to a shared network folder. Your server will realize this, automatically add and hash check the torrent, and start it. You may want to change these settings in your laptop so that you don't seed stuff in both computers at the same time:

    (Options -> Preferences -> Queueing)

my laptop uses the same shared harddisk as my server. so i wouldnt have to move files from anywhere to anywhere? the files are already in its destination folder when downloaded with my laptop?

so i would have to set: laptop:
put new downloads in: (shared harddisk path)
store .torrents file in: (shared harddisk path)

same for my server? but it says "do not use the same directoy for AUTO-load as u also store files in".

    or am i wrong?

also: dont i have to set this options (queieing) on both (server and laptop) for not seeding same files twice?

    thanks :)

    Yes to both.

store .torrents file in: (shared harddisk path)

same for my server? but it says "do not use the same directoy for AUTO-load as u also store files in".
Make sure you've read the first line of my post.

Making your laptop automatically stop the torrent upon finishing it like I told you should take care of this.

hmm it doesnt seem to work.. but i guess i did something wrong , the .torrent file is on the server but its not in the utorrent server list (do i have to restart utorrent everytime?):

folder where all .torrent files aswell as all download files are is:
    F:/Torrent

    So my Laptop has:
"Put new downloads in (path to shared F:/Torrent)"
"Move completed torrent to" is unchecked
"Store .torrent files in" is unchecked
"move .torrents for finished jobs to (path to shared F:/torrent)"
"automatically load torrents in directoy" is unchecked

    My server has:
    "Put new download in (F:/torrent)"
"Move completed torrent to" is unchecked
"Store .torrent files in" is unchecked
"move .torrents for finished jobs to" is unchecked
"automatically load torrents in directoy (path to F:/torrent/)"

so the .torrent file is in F:/torrent/ and also the torrent-files are in F:/torrent/torrent-name/ but the torrent is not in the utorrent list on my server.

    thanks

Did you untick "always show dialog on manual add" in your server? I'm not sure it will make a difference, but try it.

For me it works, torrents are automatically added and hash checked.
