    Question IRC for downloads

Does someone use IRC for downloads?
How it compares to bitTorrent, one-click-hosters, and so on?

    Never used it.

Just thought I'd say it. I dislike IRC, in general.

used it before bittorrent was invented.
speeds are _OK_ if you know where to look.
but the search just wears you down.

it can't be compared to torrenting.

XDCC and other IRC scripts were nice back in the day when BT wasn't that farspread. But today the selection of files is getting ever smaller and it's hard to find rarer stuff, especially since some channels are even more closeknit than private trackers. I don't think it's worth the hassle anymore.

depends, any method (p2p's, och's, irc,...) can be satisfactory if it offers what you need/want with good sources ('right' locations) to get the stuff

so if you find good xdcc bots you can download with, for example, xdcc klipper from a continuously updated list of packs (packets) using almost a 'one-click' method for it

or if you find good sharers in various channels you can get older released stuff, rarely available otherwise

but, irc is not mainstream or trendy so expect spartan interface, lots of typing (instead of clicking) and low searchability, slower (home) connections, queues & limits, sometimes song-by-song download and so on - if you want ease-of-use, continuous support (downloading tools or forums with links) then irc is not the right place to search

    irc.

its kinda complicated to search like one link hosters sites with it..you can do it thats true..

but in my opinion dont use irc..otherwise find some sites which gave you links of freshly added or newely added softwares in one link hosters...

i download alot things via them too..more things let me know .k

the heart of sharing is FTP'S then IRC...
all groups firstly spread files over these connections.

    then;

    torrent and eMule

    and

these are what can be seen easily...reaching is easy.
