its based on a comic inwhich wolverine is old. Besides if u had watched classic xmen cartoon series.. u should know that in days of future past saga wolverine was shown old in future which was dominated by sentinels

No, I've only watched X-Men Evolution, and I don't think it aired in its entirety here.

Anyway, I'm willing to overlook potential inconsistencies as long as the story's good

they have said that is probably the first superhero movie going for an oscar/other prize in the drama category. And it wouldn't surprise me at all if that was the case since it practically is the tale of a man that has lost everything, along with his meaning of life and is in a constant fight with his inner self and nightmares.

I think it will be a masterpiece and easily score an 8,5 and above. Gonna wait and see though.
