Sigbritt, 75, has world's fastest broadband

A 75 year old woman from Karlstad in central Sweden has been thrust into the IT history books - with the world's fastest internet connection.Sigbritt Löthberg's home has been supplied with a blistering 40 Gigabits per second connection, many thousands of times faster than the average residential link and the first time ever that a home user has experienced such a high speed.

But Sigbritt, who had never had a computer until now, is no ordinary 75 year old. She is the mother of Swedish internet legend Peter Löthberg who, along with Karlstad Stadsnät, the local council's network arm, has arranged the connection.

WTFFFFFFFF I fucking can't believe that !! she can watch over 1500 HDTV channel in no time loading, also downloading any HD Movie in less than 1 second guys !! How the gov authorized such a high bandwith to be used as a regular home service ?? isn't such a speed supposed to be serving the military devisions & stuff ??!!

Yeah, I have heard of this extremely high-bandwidth connection before. But it's in Sweden, so I'm not surprised.
According the article, this is a demonstration of how it is possible to implement very fast modulation techniques using optic fiber

"The most difficult part of the whole project was installing Windows on Sigbritt's PC," said Jonsson.
    Oh well

I would even be happy with a 50/50 connection.

But even in sweden where 100/100 is nothing special this a really fast connection.

Yeah, but then the maximum available speed will be 10Tbps or something, and we'll all want that instead.

the article was from 2007, after some months she was downgraded to 10Gbps

it was just a show-off experiment done by her son, with rumors of going up to 100Gbs later on, but seems they dropped the idea

She is the mother of Swedish internet legend Peter Löthberg
can't say there was any significant 'boom' or change caused by this news
