i think the required bitrate to make a particular movie encode determines the size of a 576p.
some are 2.2gb, but i've also seen 4,7gb 576p encodes and everything in between of course.

This might be a little off topic but I'd just like to ask if there's a big quality difference between x264 and xvid with regards to the standards the scene encodes their xvid and internals like x264 encoders encode their x264 movies? Will there be a noticeable difference in a standard 700mb or 1.37gb movie, where one is encoded using xvid and the other using x264?
regardless of the codec used, 700mb encodes are almost always crap, of course!
but other than that, more important than xvid or x264 are settings used, source and bitrate.
i have seen excellent 480p xvid bdrips, so the omnipresent xvid hate is really not justified if you ask me.

Lol! Yeah, 700mb encodes do suck. The quality is just unbearable on a bigger screen but I used them as references because DVDRips always do come in those file sizes. Being a fan of 720p BDRip/BRRip XviD movies, I was intrigued and I wanted to know if I'm missing out or something if I don't get x264 versions. But with your answer, I guess I'm okay.
when will the open reg

Never. Now you can stop the spamming. Thanks.

Is this site really closely affiliated to What? And since the signups will never be open, are there any alternatives to it? I'm thinking SDBits but I'm not sure.
depends on how you define "closely".
it's not a sister site like ptp, but they sure have close ties.
sdbits tends to have more tv show content and only very few 576p encodes.

They use teh CSS hack. That's fo' sho'. So, some relation, I guess.
There's always invites if you really want to get in. Can't really answer the rest of your post as I'm more than happy with my 700MB movies. I lack the required connection speed, storage space and equipment to download and play HD video. And since the signups will never be open
PTPC wasn't a sister site of What.cd last time I checked.
"I just remembered something that happened a long time ago."
Well, I didn't know that. But I define a sister site as initially created by, or operated, by the staff on the main site. So it doesn't count for me... although "spin-off" doesn't define it well either. Let's say What.cd immensely helped its start-up.

Well, if they do have a decent archive of 720p/WEB-DL TV series and do release new ones regularly, then I may consider hunting for one. Isn't CSS hack supposed to be a legal privacy thing? Or am I just stoned link mirrormask?
Lol! No, I just asked because with the number of members they have, there should be at least one who would be willing to do that. Too bad we can't post in their forums and tell them that the site they love has been tracking their activity. Now that's an instaban.
