This doesn't answer your question. But it is my opinion that if you buy a router that can't run third-party firmware--you've wasted your money. My friend has that same router you plan to buy, the DIR-655. And it is a very nice router. However it won't let him tweak the settings he needs to run more effeciently on a P2P network.

Instead, I would recommend an Asus WL-500W. It costs and looks about the same as the DIR-655, but is compatible with third-party firmware. You won't regret it, and once you actually install the firmware and see the options you can tweak that you normally wouldn' be able to--I think you'd agree with me that it's the better choice.

    Good luck,
    Nobody

    you plan to buy
The problem is i allredy buy it

You have right with firmware, too bad it not supports other firmware.
But still it must be better then my old router, be more stable and can handle more connections, right?

I have managed it to work with my old router.I setup zyxel to bridge, disabled firewall, dhcp and wlan so now its working only as i modem.

Can zyxel now somehow slow it down?or it now all depends about dir 655
