Coventry DVDs conman to lose assets Jul 30 2008 By Emma Stone

A COVENTRY man jailed for dealing in counterfeit DVDs has been ordered to pay back ?100,000 of his ill-gotten gains.

Wayne Harry Haywood, of Wilsons Lane, Longford, is to be stripped of assets made through his fake DVD operation, after a court order was made this week.

The 42-year-old was jailed for 12 months in July last year after pleading guilty to 13 offences under the Trade Marks Act and the Video Recordings Act.

An investigation began in June 2005 after trading standards officers were tipped off that he was dealing in counterfeit DVDs.

In July 2005 trading standards officers, police and an investigator from the Federation Against Copyright Theft raided Haywood's Coventry home and seized more than 800 DVDs, plus machines for duplicating DVDs and CDs.

On Monday Coventry Trading Standards, assisted by the West Midlands Regional Asset Recovery Team, secured a ?100,000 Confiscation Order at Coventry Crown Court.

Maybe he "got away" with more than that, so it's OK for him
