Got this news recently from LinuxG.net. It's been out for a couple of days but I thought that I'd post about it anyways in case some Linux boxers weren't aware yet.

In august 2015, the developers will start working on next Linux Mint 17.3, yet another Linux Mint system based on Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr
And from what I've been reading earlier is that LM 18 is supposed to be based on 16.04.
