i'll probably check it out, the rock has enough charisma to carry a movie as a lead character, but not if he is left 'on his own' (as happened in a number of his movies)
btw, you're confusing the general decline of f&f (too many sequels, as expected) with the rock entering the series (just compare his acting/delivery/attitude with the monotonous/bored diesel or still? nervous walker)
also, for good movies with the rock see:
Fast Five (2011) a short-lasting infusion of fresh blood into the franchise
Race to Witch Mountain (2009) bearable, more family oriented, lesser adventure
Gridiron Gang (2006) strong drama
Doom (2005) bearable, lesser action movie
The Rundown (2003) fun thriller/adventure
The Scorpion King (2002) bearable if you can handle the silliness (and its still better than any of 'the mummy' movies from which it originated)
