Project X Most Pirated Movie of 2012

As 2012 comes to an end we follow up our most pirated TV-shows chart by taking a look at the most pirated movies of the year. Project X comes out on top, and aside from other usual suspects such as box office hits The Dark Knight Rises and The Avengers, the list has a few notable absentees.

With nearly 9 million downloads Project X leads our list of most shared movies on BitTorrent in 2012, leaving Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol and The Dark Knight Rises behind in second and third place respectively. There is no significant change in the total number of movie downloads compared to last year but it’s clear that demand for movies remains strong.
Project X as “winner” is perhaps the biggest surprise as it’s the lowest grossing movie in the top 10 with only $100,931,865.

Why? It was pretty cool. I can't say the same thing about the Avengers though.

TorrentFreak rarely reports on anything related to private trackers. Exceptions are things like the OiNK bust or COFEE leak.

Only about 100 million bucks for the top of the list movie ?? That's all?? I'm wondering what the folks down at the RIAA headquarters have to say about all the money they've lost. No matter. I guess folks from the RIAA, MPAA, 'Screw-you-AA", and "What's-your-problem-again-AA" and other tyrannical fascist organizations are probably turning and tossing throughout the night wondering if it's possible for them to make a patent on sound and vision.

Do you like to hear?? Like music?? Want to hear what grandpa had to tell you?? Pay our patent fees first.

Do you like to watch stuff, like movies, TV, your computer, other people?? Pay the patent fees first, will ya.

    they're shaking hands (as usual)
the movie didn't lose, in fact it did very well: budget 12 mil., gross 100 mil. in about 5 months - the reason why it didn't go higher is probably because of its shallowness (just a party movie, low interest), its target audience (teens, low paying abilities) and perhaps some competition

under certain circumstances all of these could be done, some already are (premium/exclusive contents), some partially so (patented technology, components), some are being promoted and will continue to be in the future (cybernetics), etc.

it is certain that they will continue with high-level lobbying, increased promotional efforts, increased legislative/hostile presence, increased harassment/obstruction of any alternative ways (including their competition), trying to impose their view of how citizens/customers should behave regarding their products, also whatever they have now will soon become insufficient since their demands/appetite only grow larger as time goes by

Yup. That's for sure. Agree with you 110 %. One has to be ready for their legion of money-hungry-pirates. It's as if the downloading habits of people robs them of their rights to plunder and pillage. Fascist organizations such as them do spearheaded a number of initiatives to set up shop in other countries, though under the guise of different names. They do collaborate of course. If they didn't, they couldn't rob ordinary folks for what all they've got.

Talk about terrorism. Terrorism, as you know, is a form of intimidation that involves coercion. These fascist organizations aren't shy of using such initiatives.
By-the-way, if your wondering why I label them 'fascist', that's because by definition (one of a few, that is) a fascist is having "a tendency toward or actual exercise of strong autocratic or dictatorial control" They enable terroristic actions to further their goals and ambitions in a broader array of control of as many person's lives that use the Internet.

interestingly enough (i'll rephrase your txt), they could also be labeled 'communist', as in: 'having a tendency toward or actual exercise of strong autocratic or dictatorial control, in the name of (or sanctioned by) a single authoritarian party', where terrorist actions are used to further their goals and ambitions in a broader array of control of as many person's lives that use the Internet (among others)

notice how online/dictionary definitions carefully avoid depicting 'communism' in a too negative way, whereas they have no problem doing it with the one you already mentioned, which is naturally no coincidence

I don't know what it is but I feel like there's a fascist somewhere in the world who feels like say'in it. "Look you little weasel. The RIAA is just protecting your freedom. So stop yer whinin' commie boy! Who ya gonna complain to when the terrorists come and steal yer freedom, huh!!? "

Yup. Well, I suppose it can be said that there wouldn't really be much of a difference between the 2 ideologies in the context of the fascist RIAA and MPAA. They both are preponderant in their behaviors. The only things that will really eliminate such radical authoritarian fascist groups is not just awareness (awareness to know; awareness to tell others; awareness of what to do (write to/complain to) but also even more strongly, continued resistance from notable opponents such as as EFF. Hopefully you've heard of them, slik. If not, read here:

They are the makers of HTTPS Everywhere if your not familiar with that extension yet. And of course, Wikileaks. Long live that website/organization. Though, I fear the worst can and could actualize.
