I have this problem with JD and have gotten quite upset with the damn thing not working as expected. I've done some research on the downloading tool and the associated error that is posted inside the tool. Most of the problems associated with this error point to a firewall and or AV not allowing java.exe and/or javaw.exe
Within Comodo firewall are allowed the above .exe files. Therefore I can't see how Comodo is contributing to not allowing either of these .exe files. Secondly, as I am already successfully downloading from a hoster service, this most obviously is not the problem.
Also, as I"m using ClamAV atm, there really exists no option for this inside the AV. Again, in consideration of the above allowances both present and from past experiences, java and javaw.exes are /have been allowed. So most definitely ClamAV is not the culprit either.
Thirdly, the speed connections (250Kb/s), the max downloads(2), and max connections per file (1) are quite optimum. I have these settings b/c from previous research on the internet, those connections had helped me solve some disc space issues that I was having with the tool. So I'm not really inclined to change nor would those settings lead me to believe that they are the culprit. The other downloads are progressing fine actually and hence are as evidence to support my claim that the settings are good.
Fourth, there is no proxy usage. I"m on an open wifi connection. There is also no VPN. Therefore this is ruled out.
Fifth, the disconnect even re-occurs after 'force download' has been clicked. This includes 'reset' and then 'force download' have been clicked. Still no go. The 'Disconnect? wait XXX' re-occurs. Believe me, I"ve tried all kinds of combinations.
I have tried other download managers such as IDM which give me nothing but a 13 Kb HTML document. Pretty useless, I thought.
This includes other download managers such as Cryptload v. 1.X The problem with that one is it doesn't support the file hoster I"m trying to use.
Copy/pasting the links directly into my browser gives me a "The connection has timed out' error. The server was taking too long to respond. That kind of usual error.
And before I forget, yes these files are all online. This is evidenced by both JDownloader stating that fact (within the tool ) as well as myself going to the actual file hosting link and seeing for myself that they are available. I have physically tried all links both within the tool as well as manually trying to download. Still no go.
Also, I have used both the Beta version as well as the non-Beta version. JDownloader is also up to date. Therefore, non of this brings to mind any concerns of the Beta or non-Beta over the other. Jave is also up to date. The latest version.
Also, under Settings> Hosts & Addons> (specific file hosting service) the TOS is checked. Therefore, this is not a consideration.
Also, under Settings>Internet & Network> Timeout & Connection Loss (both) are set to 100000 ms. From what I"ve been reading this is an optimum setting and therefore I prefer this not to change.
The research around the internet either has threads that remain not solved or solved because the guy was using a proxy. Again, there's no proxy on my end.
I thought that if anyone here has experienced the same issues and was able to successfully resolve them, it'd be great that you could post the solution here.
In consideration of all of the above information, a question that I would like to pose is: Is this a hoster downloading tool problem or is the problem with the hosting service??
Second question: If not a hosting service problem then how is the downloading tool as well as the regular copy/pasting method causing this problem as described above with the 'error' mesage. The hoster is online. If it wasn't, I wouldn't be able to manually get to the site. Therefore, the server for the hoster site is most obviously online.
For the sake of further clarity, here is a copy/paste of the log. I"ve left out the links as they are not really necessary for viewing.

There you go. There isn't really all that much inside the log other than to state the obvious. That the connections timed out.
