So.... you say.... Another new Torrent Site ?

Well hopefully we won't be that. We don't want to be "Just another site" we want to be recognised, as time goes by, as one of the fastest and most friendly sites on the net.

We know we have some tall orders and there are some fantastic sites out there setting the standards pretty high for us to match. We hope to take the best elements from some of these sites and create a site with blazing pre times on scene releases but also create a vibrant and active forum !

The speed we hope to have early on. With donations we can only increase the speed and the size of the content. The forums on the other hand will be a totally different ball game. It's the users..... (You guys) that can actually make that part of the site. We can only keep things running smoothly and so we leave that part up to you !

What will perhaps make our task a little harder is the fact that we plan to achieve these goals purely by using donations. We believe that we can create a torrent site to rival the fastest sites you can think of without having to resort to selling GB for money. We are confidant you don't need to have the funds of a small country to compete.

The very basis of the site started on 21st October 2010. On this date we had some basic forums up and running and started to discuss our objectives and we planned to complete them. We also started to put together a team of people we thought could pull this off.....

Several months later and much coding and discussions behind us we finally felt that we were at a stage where we could take the site live.

27th March 2011 0.00 GMT we decided to open for the first time.

I guess now is the time to welcome you into this site and hope you stay and make this your torrenting home..... We plan to be around for quite a while.

TSH is new gazelle general 0day tracker with high speeds and fat pre'times. It is new torrentvault . Cheating there is not hard like many other gazelle trackers speeds like 1 Mb/s working but there are few users maybe you want to be careful. Staff of TSH thinking to change to ratioless and I hate that . I could see TSH after year or two as one of the best 0day trackers. They need to handle their inactivity and low donations first of course

    TSH - First Steps Taken.

First Steps Taken. - 19 hours and 51 mins ago

So we set ourselves a goal to reach 3,500 members. At this point we promised our users that we were going to start implementing various security features that our users can make use of should they wish to do so.

The first of these which will also create a level ground for all people to downlaod, no matter how big or small their connection, is to remove the ratio system !

Keeping no records of your Upload amount, nor your Download amounts means that your account here will show as having had no activity. We will also NOT be keeping any records of torrents that have been downloaded. We will NOT keep record of any snatchlists.

Doing this will also mean that we are UNABLE to track any hit and runs within the site !

Despite of that, we still are planning for our speeds and pretimes to stay among the best when compared to the best trackers out there.

As some have shown, we too are concerned with the possibility of some users abusing our system, and we would like to let you know what we will have some anti-abuse detection scripts, for the vast majority of users they do not have to worry about anything.

The actual figures that will be used to detect abuse will not depend on storing any torrent history, .. those figures are not going to be disclosed at the moment, but they are very lenient.

We can't do it without you. We need your support, so get behind us and let's take that next step together !

    • Please note that during the transition period there may be some tracker downtime. We expect this to remain at a minimum, just keep your torrents running and they will update eventually.

This one is pretty underrated. So are TorrentVault and LeechersLair.

    TorrentShack may be closing soon.

    The End ?
Writing what will likely be the final news item here at TorrentShack does not come easy.
We have had many ups and downs over the years but have always come out on top. This time however it appears we are fighting a battle that we have little response to.

After nearly 6 years we have done what many people said could not be done. We started a Ratio Free site and made it work ! The odd retention issue aside, we had a system that for the most part worked pretty well. It allowed those with lesser connections access to content without having to fork out for seedboxes to keep a steady ratio.

We managed to hit the top of the pile in racing releases. We remained number one for a good few years before deciding that we had proved our point. What made it more satisfying was doing it on a shoe string budget, proving that you don't need to fleece the userbase for thousands as an excuse for being number one.

We overcame being taken down by F.A.C.T, the loss of various PayPal accounts and yet kept on fighting.
All of these were tough, but we came through. What we are struggling with as of right now, is people to run the site. We have lost many talented people to Real Life during the course of this journey but have always had people to fill in and take over. Now we are about to lose another and we simply do not have anyone to fill those shoes.

This leaves us with the options of struggling on and be unable to fix things when they go wrong, as has been the case recently with the ipv6 issues and other connection problems. Or hand over the site to someone else, not knowing who they are or what their intentions are.

The security issues with this second option is a total non starter. The site will NOT be run by an unknown person(s). Your security and details are to important for us to let that happen.

Whilst we will still try and sort this issue, you should be aware there is a very real possibility of us going offline for a good deal of time. Perhaps never to return.

Should this happen, I have a list of those that have donated and I will make every effort to try and return funds to those that kindly donated to keep the site running. The server has been renewed for another month, but at the end of January we lose our last coder/Hardware guy to "Real Life" and have no options on a suitable replacement.
    Thanks

This Real Life guy seems worse than the RIAA.
