Instab: the confirmation e-mail is a bit borked, with "br"s and "/b"s that shouldn't be there. Usernames end with a number and nothing else, and passwords are 8 chars long. See if you can make yours work knowing that.

can we still use it if we are not in germany, netherlands or belgium ?
As anon can use it I think so.

I chose Germany when I registered. The server's hostname only resolves to a single Netherlands IP so I don't see the difference.

I heard about Usenet since I heard about the internet, I always wanted to use it and never understood the concept, never tried to understand it because every time I started reading about it would start like this: To join Usenet contact your ISP and see... bla bla, ya my ISP at that time would have been very considerate about people not getting a Usenet so they could start downloading when we barely were able to open a hotmail page.
What I know, might be wrong, it is like a mailing group, you subscribe and you would start getting files (rared) in parts sent to you, what I don't understand is two things, why do I need my ISP for this and why as far as I know it is the original source of group releases, I think most groups use it until now.

anon , where is your last post ?
I thought it was power failure or something Anyway, great post man, I am finally usenetting +1 (edit: sorry sys didnt allow)
I still don't understand it but here how it is done guys ...
1. Make account at the suggested site http://www.xsusenet.com/en
2. Download the client Unzbin - Tiny Usenet NZB Powerhouse | Download, Decode, Repair and Unpack!
3. Search for *things* on Indexing sites, link given by anon, again : http://www.sb-innovation.de/redirect...exing-sites%21
4. Download .NZB file (same as in torrents) and run it.
5. Before that, open your client, add the account you got in step one as server, use 2 (the limit of free version). servers maximize speed and now do step 4.
Tip: you need to connect to start the process or connect before you start adding files, I used SLL connection, working fine.

Just to mention as anon had already said Usenet offers a big selection of 'forums' (groups actually) with different kinds of topics and downloading binaries is just one side of it. There are free usenet servers around, so one does not have to pay for usenet. Google allows to do search there: Google Groups
Sometimes you can find more interesting results when you search in groups rather than in web (default google search)

what kind of things you can find there that there are not on the trackers??
You get speed and reliability. Maybe even find releases you won't find on trackers.
well the problem or not is that you are limited to 1Mb/s , I don't have super fast connection so it was good enough for me, I used it to get files that you can find on trackers (not all trackers) you need to search many trackers and if you find them you will probably find them dead or half of them dead, on usenet nothing is dead, always at the same speed, it's not a replacement for trackers.
Some downsides
1. This place won't stay forever as they clam, I wouldn't count on that (not free at least or not that fast)
2. People with fast internet won't enjoy this, they are giving them a taste of the service only.
3. Fake files... I found some fakes files (Big time)
4. Not enough details, at trackers you can see the number of seeders/screens/comments.
5. Some files has some missing parts on usenet, I don't know why.
6. X usenet doesn't have all the files of usenet archived, I found files using search sites but couldn't locate them on X usenet when added the same newsgroup
7. limited to 2 connections, you can't download 3 files at lower speeds if you like for example.
8. Some files are password protected ! I don't know how to deal with that yet.
The Good side.
1. No log in (you setup the client with name and pass and that's it)
2. you search in one place not 10 trackers
3. constant speed
4. No ratio to keep
5. No upload usage
6. No government IPs and so to hide from (for some)

no, thanksbut this server lets you leech for free at a maximum speed of 1Mbit.
looks like old Emule crap. really.1. This place won't stay forever as they clam, I wouldn't count on that (not free at least or not that fast)

信心正気宇裁
1. true, that happens.
2. also true. Not much of an issue for me as I don't consider 1Mbit to be glacial, but for those with lines a hundred times faster it may be a problem.
3. you can solve that by using a reliable site to get your NZBs. I use FST as I'm a member there already, there are other good ones as well (I think I posted a link).
4. same.
5. completion problems happen. Some people use block accounts (you pay per amount of transferred data and not every month) as fill servers (that "fill" the parts you don't have) to overcome this. It happens even on well-known paid services.
6. maybe those files were older than the maximum retention for XS Usenet?
7. true.
8. delete them immediately and seek a good release. Password-protected files, just like passworded RARs on public trackers, are a scam.
That's how cool Usenet can be3. constant speed
4. No ratio to keep
5. No upload usage
Try B!nload, you Russian h4x0r
