Record Labels Request $75 Trillion in Damages from Limewire

Our apologies if you just sprayed your monitor with Starbucks and spit. That was our reaction too, once we learned that this wasn't an April Fool's prank, but an actual number record labels came up with when asked to estimate the damages Limewire should be held liable for. Their answer was $400 billion on the conservative side, and as much as $75 trillion on the high end

...more money than the entire music recording industry has made since Edison's invention of the phonograph in 1877.'...yet record labels had the audacity to ask for it anyway.
    NUTS!!!!!

"We were pleased that the judge followed both the law and the logic in reaching the conclusion that she did,"
I'm glad that this judge has a sense of reality and logic in this case, too. I'd also personally question the recording label's sense of reality as it is most definitely different than the rest of the world's.
The recording labels must be Bat F** insane. Or maybe they're all just mentally hilarious.

It's not even the artists who'd get any coin out of it. Everybody knows this. It'd be the recording labels themselves that would wind up with the biggest financial win-fall in the history of any business. I think they just invented a whole new way to define 'craziness'.

    a few trillion, eh?
not a problem really, just let the fed print some more and spread it around for their buddies at the record labels, its just another rip-off anyways

as for the judge, a decent one would simply fine the labels for treating the process like a joke, but that won't happen ofc

well, the financial elite has set the bar pretty high, so i guess someone has to try and top it, though it seems there is no one left to cash out this kind of sum, unless the state offers to suck the lime on this one too

For any western government that has the audacity via the many corrupted influences within it's circles to print of trillions of dollars and knowing full well that that money, including all it's compound interest, will never get paid off has got to show something of that government's corruption and the malfeasance and profiteering mind of the external influences upon it.

Not only does it demonstrate that, that government is morally broken but also illustrates that there's very little in the way of a future for a country that's held in debt-eternal by business elitists, financial power-brokers, corporate conglomerates, and what-not.

It's like this. In many western countries, particularly the US and some European states, the richest 1 percent own 60 percent of wealth.
IMO, there's no doubt as to who owns what country and how much of it.

    ---------- Post added at 19:20 ---------- Previous post was at 18:52 ----------

This even includes owning a large portion of tax - free bonds ( for example ) by said group of people.

During the post-war (WW II) era, there was seen the highest profitability ever by many companies and it is the richest 1 percent ( that can and most likely do own many of those companies ) that has seen their own profit margin increase by around 115 percent over the last 30 or so years. And of course, wealth creates resources. Political resources just to name one of them. This is how we have lobby groups as well as special -interest lobby groups in what almost seems as fornicating with politicians to get favoritism played right into the hands of the wealthy elite. Eventually, it's they who, what would seem, own the country with the billions that's lent out to the government. And if the government wants or needs jobs, all they have to do is crow to the wealthy business elite, request some cash as a front needed to create jobs, and hey 'presto', now they have money needed to create public jobs and the resultant infrastructure. But behind the scenes, it's the wealthy business and corporate elites that 'own' the country. Hence, they can do what-ever they please. Even print off more money right out of thin air, if you live the States.
