Based on Charlotte Brontë's classic novel, the romantic drama stars Mia Wasikowska ("Alice in Wonderland") and Michael Fassbender ("Inglourious Basterds") in the lead roles. In the story, Jane Eyre flees Thornfield House, where she works as a governess for wealthy Edward Rochester. The isolated and imposing residence – and Mr. Rochester's coldness – have sorely tested the young woman's resilience, forged years earlier when she was orphaned. quite a gamble with the choice of actors here, especially since the aim is supposedly to live up to a serious/depressive/excruciating drama:

Mia Wasikowska ("Alice in Wonderland") - not impressive, rather mediocre acting
Michael Fassbender ("Inglourious Basterds") - doesn't have even the 'd' of drama (plenty of 'd' as in debilitating though)
Judi Dench - looks like the only experienced actress, her usual/typical role

and the director? try unknown for lack of a better description

afaik a decent movie version of this novel would be:
    Jane Eyre (1996)

Best part of the trailer by far:

    "Ja? Ja? JaaaAAAAaaNE!"

We'll see. Kinda looks blah. Didn't ever really like the book though, sadly. Someone needs to make a (new) movie version of Tess of the D'Urbervilles.
