    Tracking/cataloguing Backups/Downloads - What's your method?

    Hi!

How do you guys track/catalog records about your downloads?
I use a program called "Where is it?" that scans DVDs, CDs and HDs (and some other media types) and stores the filenames in them. It can optionally save ID3v1 and ID3v2 and other media properties such as codecs, bitrate, resolution, etc.
It has a multitude of plugins that can do everything from taking snapshots of videos to save the filenames inside compressed files.
I basically number my DVDs and record their contents with this tool, which also has an advance search engine.
I started using it because of a friend of mine, so we could exchange "catalogs" as the program calls this files.
I can't stop using it because I have almost 500 DVDs and migrating will take an entire weekend!

    What's your method?

    Cheers!!

I never use DVDs anymore. I save everything to HDD so instead of inserting a 4.38GB media in I insert a 1TB, 1.5TB or 2TB media for my compter to use. So much fast and reliable.

Rewritable, indexable, changable updatable, much fasterable, moreable, betterable, much betterable, lolsable

all it needs is a simple rewrite once in a while, handle them carefully and they will last much better than dvds

You guys all seem to organize your media much better then I do. I drop everything, and I do mean EVERYTHING I download using bittorrent into the same folder. No tags or anything in uTorrent either. I have a lot of space, and usually just leave stuff for until I need to free up room for more. Incidentally, I use the program Everything to find all of my stuff, having a real-time search of filenames for my system works for me.
