Just take a look at the comparison made on their site.This is just some bloated version with some optimizing crap and new interface

usually when a proggy has a bundle of other elements in it apart from it's main function, in this case, security, the additional elements don't prove to be as well performing as other programs on the market that concentrate on one or 2 functions at the most.

I read somewhere's once that when programs are bundled, they usually don't perform as well. Kaspersky, imho, should just stick to security and not bother to fit in things like password managers and encryption.

This is why we have Truecrypt and password manager softwares that are more adept at performing thier intended function. Truecrypt, would probably beat the pants off, of Kaspersky's attempt at encryption.

That might be true, but there are also cases were a All-In-One-Solution should be preferred.

A well-experienced User would never do such thing, but for Example, if you use a Firewall from Kaspersky, a AV-Software from Symantec, and a Spam-Guard from McAfee, then there could be some kind of Incompatibilities.

I agree with the TrueCrypt-Point. I would never trust any commercial company, when it has something to do with locking sensitive data.
You never know if such a company will spy your data or if they'll exist after few years in biz.

Open Source Software which is proven to be safe, should be always the 1#choice.
Basically, you'll also get a very decent support by the web-communities.

you know, Kaspersky isn't the only one that has this AIO function. HEre's another example. BitDefender Internet Security.
I mean, BD is great and all and all the power to it, you know....but it also has encryption added to it for Yahoo Messenger as well as MSN.
PErsonnally, I don't use MSN. I'd just as soon as throw it in the trash if I ever came across it.

I can see why BD would add encryption for it, but again, the point is that BD probably has better AV, Anti-spam, and firewall capabilities than it does over it's own encryption attempts for above said programs.

Which is exactly what SBfreak says above: Bloated software.

Here's another great example. There's a neat little program that I find is fantastic. It's called Everything.

IT beats the pants off, of Windows search function which sometimes takes forever-right into the next century for finding stuff on your machine.
With Everything, it litterly takes seconds....er...maybe milliseconds.
The point is, that even with OS, not just programs, when they become bloated and fat as a whale, it slows things down enormously.

So yes. Programs should function as they're intended and original function and cut out this bloatedness and not make themselves as bloated as a pregnant whale.

the other thing that brings to my mind about these AIO programs is their users. The general public, at least in mind as far as the one's that remain uneducated about bloat-ware, is that they remain ignorant of these things and begin to think the world of them. ..thinking that this awesome program which does just about everything, including washing their bums and doing thier laundry, is in fact, because of it being as bloated as a pregnant whale, doing alot less than it could......you know what I mean??
