Looking for a decent Video transcoder

    Hello all!

I am looking for a video encoder that will allow me to transcode/recode from h264/MPEG4/Xvid and MP3/AC3/AAC/OGG to Xvid and mp3, letting me set both bitrate and video size, as well as advanced options (like b frames).
I have tried several freeware and commercial products but they all lack one or two features.
What I am trying to do is to recode movies to play in my phone, and according to my tests and investigations, Xvid/mp3 is the fastest codec combo (for TCPMP). Given that I have no choice but to use a BT for the audio (long story) and my phone has a slow CPU (and no GPU acceleration), I have no choice but to use a very particular preset.

    Thank you all in advance!

hey man. I know you're asking for 1 click tools that will automate everything for you but just read a few more lines:
you can do ANYTHING with AviSynth and VirtualDub and I mean ANYTHING. that's all you need.
as long as you have the right codecs, avisynth's DirectShowSource can send any data you can view in your media player to VDub and in VDub you can customize any XviD option you want.
regarding BVOPs - you can edit the quantizer, max consecutive bvops, quantizer ratio and offset.

the only downside is that you have to write your own scripts, but that easy learning.. if you do a lot of encoding, you'll master avisynth and vdub in 2-3 weeks time

If you want, I can help you build a few avisynth scripts that will work for your needs

one more suggestion I have for you is FFmpeg, and FFmpeg GUIs.
FFmpeg can decode and encode almost any format that exists. both audio and video.
search for a nice GUI and you're set.

one last thing I wanna say is that in order to get good results, there's no easy way out.. no magic solutions.. you'll have to get a little bit dirty

I could recommend StaxRip, its a nice tool which has a auto-install feature for external codecs.

Here you may also find a guide.

@dreamer: Hey that is very generous of you! Thank you very much, but I need a simple tool, Vdub is just too much for me (I tried it!). On top of that this is just a trial and it might not work out, that damn BT totally hogs out the phone!

    @tokiodrift1: Cool program! thank you!

The best video transcoder for me is FormatFactory or SUPER. I advice you these two.
