Post Hacktivists Protest Proposed Shutdown of P2P Sites

The Spanish Government is working on new legislation under which hundreds of file-sharing sites that are currently perfectly legal, could be shut off. In a response to these plans, a group of hacktivists have launched a clever campaign to prove that the proposal is useless, and that the Government might as well close down the whole Internet.

these attempts go hand in hand with other censorship & blacklisting policies as the european union itself aims to primarily protect the corporate interests (in this example the entertainment industry) which are the actual originators of this union idea, and once implemented it will be gradually extended (without being transparent to the public or modifiable by the public in any way) on other areas such as blacklisting of government critics, alternative sites, competition, etc. effectively creating a democracy mockery ie. a dictatorship

the proposal only seems to be useless, but once a precedent is established it can be easily built upon (extended), if nothing else it can measure a nations vigilance to similar (future) legislative acts

as for closing down the internet, there will be no such thing as it has opened new ways of creating profit (and can serve as a path towards digital currency) - the only thing needed is (when deemed necessary) a total control of the information that is being exchanged with unhindered ability to alter/modify or block unwanted information - in the name of some bogus protection or security issue
