Pre-2.0 versions will prefer normal TCP connections over uTP. They'll only initiate UDP transfers if the other peer asks.

sorry for another bump but I'm still curious about the uTP thing, I've downloaded ut 2.0 beta 17427, what should I do now? any configuration to get that working?

You should use 2.1. Then, if "enable bandwidth management" is ticked, uTP is enabled. You don't need to do anything else.
