Al Jazeera English: 'ePigeon' faster than email

check it out. Pretty neat, I thought

Speedy internet connections have yet to take off in many parts of South Africa because of a shortage in bandwidth.

One leading internet provider says it is not to blame for the slow connection, but frustrations have led one IT group to adopt an unusual method of delivery.
    It's a very short read.

    And here's the link:

    "God, from the mount Sinai
    whose grey top shall tremble,
    He descending, will Himself,
in thunder, lightning, and loud trumpet’s sound,
    ordain them laws".

John Milton (1608-1674) in Paradise Lost

they're not alone - such things happen all over the world

One leading internet provider says it is not to blame for the slow connection
that would be difficult to believe (at least if it happens constantly), since isp's have a nasty habit to underestimate their connections/users ie. they calculate that users won't fully use the available bandwidth and in such way can acquire more users without the need to upgrade the bandwidth, which can in effect lead to major slowdowns, especially if there are several heavy users online...not to mention various isp limitations, cable quality, and so on

now for pigeons to be faster than email, that would be one helluva slow connection or unusually large attachments

and btw, what kind of IT group cannot afford dedicated lines??
