Pirate Bay alternatives - 12 BitTorrent trackers that could replace TPB

Here on FILEnetworks Blog we talk about private torrent trackers almost everyday. However with the recent TPB saga we thought it was timely to talk about public BitTorrent sites as well. Although there are thousands of such sites, most of these are either meta search engines or torrent indexers - they do not operate their own BitTorrent tracker and the indexed torrents usually rely on external trackers to function. This is not what the BitTorrent community needs right now - over reliance of one tracker could have devastating ripple effects. That's why in this article we've given more focus to public torrent sites that operate their own trackers.

I still use h33t on occasion. Otherwise, I use Demonoid which I consider public. The only reason I still use these is because of the odd things you can't find on alot of General trackers due to retention times. I honestly never had much use for TPB.

That's true. Nothing can beat the amount of content. The bad thing about TPB is that it looks like half the world's public torrents are made to announce to its trackers URLs, so it'd be a bad day for filesharing if they ever went down.

1337x looks like a good site.

If it's going to be the next TPB, at least get it a nice name! Zamunda

Zamunda is actually a pretty awesome tracker ! I have used it alot in the past because of all the seeders and I could use tools to make my ratio super high, but I hear ArenaBG is a much better Bulgarian tracker.

Demonoid is the best replacement in my opinion

Big content and more seeders in comparision with other public sites

But we shouldn't forget that TPB had many users and popularity because of the pure free and public system (imo), i.e., no signups and no ratios. Some people can't stand the hassle of signing up or getting an invite (demonoid), etc.

some of these sites require registration, some don't distinguish between scene & non-scene releases, many still track tpb torrents, some don't have nfo/details section, there are too many ads, some don't have trusted & co torrents and so on

those trackers that aim to be the next tpb should think about such things and also go a bit forward including better anonymity options,...

imo there will be new trackers oriented towards the future of torrenting, but at the moment no public tracker is standing out of the crowd

I agree, for sure none at the moment can stand beside what TPB was, I already miss those torrents with a pink or blue (can't remember) skull tag, meaning they were from trusty uploaders.
