Moby: The RIAA Needs to be Disbanded

The two million dollar fine handed out to Jammie Thomas by a Minnesota jury this week hasn’t done the music industry’s image much good. While lawyers and high level managers at the major labels cracked open the Champagne, artists such as Moby and Radiohead shook their heads in shame at what the music world has become.

Nice to know some artists are smart enough to realize this move by RIAA is only to favor the greediness from the music industry.

there were previous discussions about how the music industry contracts with new & upcoming artists are quite enslaving in such way that they end up owing money to the industry which forces them to keep up with album releases until they can manage a level of independence

so imo the artists know what kind of a greedy beast the music industry is, yet their problem is either being shackled by the contracts, being greedy themselves (even after they gain independent status), being lazy/afraid to walk an independent path or being enchanted by the industry marketing/financial/status/other power

remember how they (artists) jumped in the 'save the africa' or in the x-Aid 'train' - so far their voices have been rather silent about filesharing (maybe i'm mistaken but those openly against anti-p2p are either big enough or small enough) - could it be their pockets matter more than their fans?
