Exclamation Germany is about to censor internet

A law to that effect will be proposed to parliament on thursday June 16.

As usual, it's for "protect people from child prornography"

    Arbeitskreis gegen Internet-Sperren und Zensur

In Australia, where a similar system is implemented, near 70% of censored sites have in fact no connection with child pornography.

    This is old news really.
Australia recently attempted to do the same thing with quite a backlash.
I recall having posted about it in the 'news' section as was reported by Wikileaks.

For Germany to have on the list of censoring the internet, there's other countries that do the same thing, most notably China.
    "God, from the mount Sinai
    whose grey top shall tremble,
    He descending, will Himself,
in thunder, lightning, and loud trumpet’s sound,
    ordain them laws".

John Milton (1608-1674) in Paradise Lost

here's other countries that do the same thing, most notably China.
for a closed type country like china it isn't surprising, but the alarming thing is that such attempts are constantly emerging under different disguises and alternative given reasons (like because of child abuse prevention, copyright protection and so on)

still imo they are likely to fail as internet was started with incorporated freedom basics (net neutrality) and for a long time proved inspirational and well founded, so users have this neutrality/freedom idea deep seeded inside themselves, and thus they're very unlikely to abandon it or deprive themselves of its benefits
