Yes I forget Ipman sorry.
IPMAN is one of my all-time-favourite.
Good Story, Good Fighting, and its the real master of the one and only ,Bruce-Lee.
My favourite scene is when he's doing the revenge fight against the 10 japanese.

1. ong bak2
2. Shoot them Up
3. Transporter2
This thread is totally lacking Hero. While it has a lot of PR China propaganda in its themes (unity of china and simplifying the language, obedience to the ruler...) it has some of the most artful fight scenes I have yet seen.
Also House of Flying Daggers for general choreography.
Personally, I don't like movies like hero or tiger & dragon.
It is some kind of non-realistic and more like a fantasy-movie rather than a good martial-arts movie.
If you know that the fighting is not real, than what's the big deal ?

i see a lot of recent 'mainstream' movies mentioned, yet there are older ones, before the wire-work-craze, when actors actually had to have formidable martial arts skills (unlike many recent wannabes) and where fighting scenes were more challenging (as opposed to today when we get hundreds of cut-scenes), basically whereas before martial arts skill was of primary concern, nowadays its the visual element being focused on (some would say 'sold as skill' )
to see how it was done before watch for example:
The 36th Chamber of the Shaolin (aka Shaolin Master Killer) (1978) with Gordon Liu
or for more comedy:
The Magnificent Butcher (1979) with Samo Hung
and btw avoid those dubbed versions like the plague, they will ruin the atmosphere & originality
And how about Shaolin Vs Ninja by Gordon Liu, but wasnt as epic as The 36th Chamber of the Shaolin. Yes I would place the latter in this threads category too
dont ban me just spank me
i also like american shaolin. true story.
I like crank if you consider it a fighter movie :
Crank (2006)

its not a fighter movie, however, jason statham is able to do some martial arts (as seen in transporter 1).
I thought Ong Bak 1 was excellent unfortunately Ong Bak 2 was not near as good. Its not how much money u put into it, Tarantino did an excellent job on #1
