[Tutorial] Firefox 3 - Send ed2k links to eMule

In this Tut I want to show you how to make Firefox 3 send ed2k links to eMule (Mod).

First of all uncheck "Autotake eD2K links only during runtime", it's located at Options --> Extended.

Now open regedit (Run --> regedit), move to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ed2k\shell\open\command and make sure the Default Value is set correct.
    Code:
    "(eMule path)emule.exe" "%1"

(THX to anon for the pic)

In this case "S:\eMule SBI Leecher" is "(eMule path)".

If you are a Vista user ... !

... you additionally have to do this:

Access "about:config", you should see a "page" like this.

Now you have to create a new Boolean, therefore rightklick --> New --> Boolean

    Name it "network.protocol-handler.external.ed2k".

    Afterwards set "true" as value.

    Now restart your browser.
From now on you should be able to select ed2k links with Firefox 3 and send them to a specified application.

    Hi
    Usefull explanation.

But are you sure there is not some other registry entries to check ?

    For example HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\ed2k\shell\ope n\command ?

That's what you're modifying indeed; HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT is just a "shortcut" to that key.

Thanks, I was not aware about that.

And what exactly is the role of the "handle ed2k links" button in emule ?

It "refreshes" the eD2K links' association to eMule in your registry. Useful if you've been playing around with some mods/clients that support eD2K, then deleted them, and e-links are broken.
