    Avatar: The Last Airbender 2024

Who all plan to watch this?

I'm planning to despite the show despite it having a big budget and having a "b-series" vibe according to reviews. I loved the movie that dropped in 2010. Unfortunately I was only able to watch it once it came on television as I wasn't aware about torrents or pira(cy) back then.

I'll skip! Nothing can beat animated series. Don't even know why are they bothering with live action.

Live action adaptations of animated series are generally a letdown because the medium offers less visual freedom, despite how advanced CGI is these days.

The original was very well-received, but I couldn't get into it, too much fantasy for me.

Coming from Netflix I can foresee this is gonna suck bigtime. 2010 The Last Airbender was very bad, goes to prove that M. Night Shyamalan is overhyped sometimes.

Yes, specially when it comes from anime, when humans try to impersonate the character it gets too forced or too uninspired. Latest live actions were all crap including One Piece and Yu Yu Hakusho (Spirit Detective?), the ones based on video-games tend to suck as well.

One good live action I can recommend though is Rurouni Kenshin movies, I think there are 3 or 4 of them.

A good live action based on video-game I think was 2006 - Silent Hill. All Resident Evil are crap imo.

Exactly the same impression I had in both cases.

The first one was decent, the rest not so much. Mind you, as we have discussed before, my expectations for movies based on videogames are set pretty low to begin with.

Sometimes? I think it's more like sometimes he makes a good movie, like Unbreakable. But most of his crap is like Avatar, Lady in the Lake or After Earth.
