The EMP story is to the same degree, makes you reconsider if you want to donate to a tracker or not. I can't wait for the day anon starts scamming us too, feels weird someone would pass up on this opportunity.
Unless there's a transparent system in place that you can place your trust in or a person, it's always a scam unless you fully take control of the resource first. Even then you risk waiting in some irc room where you're treated like scum. Better to just decide on what you actually need or thing you need and then do the "climb".

Nah, even my inner raccoon has lines she won't cross.

With that said, the EMP drama is understandable, if by no means excusable. You have a steady flow of donations (it's no secret some users have big wallets). You're accountable to no one, and no one will think of holding you accountable as long as the site keeps running. Maybe you're from one of those countries where an American or European minimum wage is enough to live like a king, and/or you had unexpected expenses this month and nothing to cover them with... put all that together and the temptation can grow too big.

Furthermore, I think the community is a bit hypocritical regarding this particular matter. Mention IPT and everyone will ramble about how the sysop runs the "Scum 6" like a money machine (which he does), but donation theft is forgiven and forgotten quickly when it happens on a cabal tracker.

True, but that's because we have naturalized the retardation known as the tracker ladder game. An "outsider" isn't going to be too keen on having to join one or more trackers and rank up over the course of two years or more before finally getting into the amazing one(s) he heard about, assuming the recruitment threads stay put... buying your way in through one of these forums comes off as more sensible in comparison, but there's a reason they don't do refunds.

The community's top sites are a victim of their own success, and the 0.1% rule is strong here.
