Please help me choose a good ebook reader

    Hi,

Could you help me choose a good ebook reader, please? I like to read, a lot, books and technical papers. As formats it could be anything from epub, mobipacket, djvu, kindle, doc/x, etc. I'm not looking for fancy features, I just want it to support the majority of ebook formats, and last as long as possible, battery-wise. I currently use a Kindle Paperwhite 2 from 2009. It still works flawlessly but it has no wifi or bluetooth and makes adding books a nightmare.
I assume these ebook readers will need to be root-ed to be able to add books without purchasing. I know this is the case for Kindle. So we need to take this intor consideration as well.

Thank you for your time and suggestions,
    MR

Amazon or Inkreader for reading , check the specs and pick the one that fit your wallet, Ipad is expensive to be a reader only.

you will still be able to read and enjoy, more expensive = more battery and bigger size with more functions. i dont think you will regret buying any of them if you dont want specific stuff.

So i bought a kindle, new, paperwhite, latest generation.. and I so hate it.

Marked with + for positive, and - for negative.

    - Out-of-box-experience cannot be completed without registering the device.
    - Register the device and it will be permanently tied to your account.
    - Ads come regardless of version with or without, apparently a glitch but i know better. And apparently, it is illegal to post ads for items that not available in your country, so.. I guess they did not think of this.
    - Kindle is basically in KIOSK mode, similar to an ATM: whole OS behind a single visible application. Useless.
    - The device only scans specific folders for data, and not all as it were in previous editions.
    - No charger.
    - Idiot-proof; i feel like my intelligence is dropping...
    - They made is black and dark colors to save costs.
    - The box that it came in has no protection, also to save costs.
    - It is very slow for PDFs of more than 100MB. WTF am I going to do with those over 300?!
    - Formats are locked to proprietary ones.
    - Battery lasts less than a 12-year old Kindle; surprising isn't it?
    - If you're an avid reader, the battery won't even last you 4 days.
    - I didn't find it easier on the eyes; my old one is; the 2021 paperwhite.. I don't wtf is the "easier on they eyes" statement.

This coming from a man that used a Kindle 2 for the past 10 years, and loved it so.
