    Internet cost in your country

    Hi guys!
I always found it interesting how the speeds and the cost for internet in the other countries are, compared to mine, so I want to invite you to join this thread with a speedtest to your nearest server, the actual speed promised in your contract and the price of the plan in Euro.
So naturally as the thread starter I will go first....
This speedtest is pretty close to my max. promised speeds of 500/300 and I'm paying about 18 Euro/mo for my plan in Bulgaria.

EDIT: Please move the thread to the english forums

I pay 65€ for internet only. Still on coax cable. Bastards don't want to upgrade to fiber

The good news is my provider will give you gigabit for the same price. The bad news is the upload speed is a ridiculously low 35 Mbps. The worst news is we don't get paid in euros...

Infrastructure reforms are costly and difficult, so there's an incentive to delay them as much as possible to keep making money from existing deployments. Telefónica's monopoly in Peru has to be the worst example of this. Also keep in mind that while not a drop-in upgrade, DOCSIS 4.0 is expected to reach parity with current FiOS speeds.

We neither, but the price is comparably good also in relation to the salary in local currency.

Yea, all ISPs here have this scummy way of increasing the monthly price each year for 1?. It's been happening for over 5 years now, and some are thinking it was unjustified and might take legal action. *fingers crossed*

That's a lot of money, but I sure would love being able to upload at 500 Mbps...

In the meantime, call customer support, threaten to cancel your service and see if you can negotiate a discount

That would only work if there is a real competition on the market. If the other operators are scammers, too, it doesn't make that much sense. That's the problem in Bulgaria, too. They all have pretty much the same prices for the same things and they don't get scared by threatening so much, because they know you don't have so many choices.

Doesn't work! The only thing they care is getting new customers, which they offer some discount for a few months, but you need to sign contract to stay with them for 2 years.

How can you complain with such high speeds? I don't think you would get substantially better speeds with fiber. I guess the more people have the more they want.

I have a 500/30 Cable (which rarely goes higher than 250/30) with a landline and Cable TV for around 54? here in Brazil. And I just realized my ISP has blocked access to the modem configuration.

Any idea why the euro symbol I typed turned to interrogation mark?
