Thread: What was your first video game system?

    (insert edited bad joke here)

    =============
    Edit:
Ok, that was in poor taste, maybe. (everyone relates with technology in a very personal way )
Since I can't answer your visitor message (maybe I can't find the button?) and the subject is a lot more about this thread, there goes some old tech.

Not my first video game system, but my 1st online access with one:

This cartridge allowed people to have an e-mail (and then typing each letter using the console's gamepad, not a fast experience) in the times of bbs.
I never used for other purposes.

There's a time and a place for everything

Well, now I don't feel so bad about sending electronic letters using this.

Poor promotion, you did never "raspe aqui".

    Nice gadgets.
I clean my old stuff these days, but I had a box that was a palmtop graveyard.
These days I am a bit ashamed of them, it is like I was a beta-tester of the end of the world (smartphones) by using them.
I passed so much time of my early life explaining unknown people what was that thing in the palm of my hand, and nowadays I have to explain people that I do not use a phone at all.

I used to play solitary on some of the palms. (that is me trying to keep on topic).

Our $9.90/month plan already included e-mail!

I bought one of these for cheap past beyond their prime, just to see what the fuss was about...

An iPaq! With Windows CE! Turn it off! Turn it off!

I was a Palm user, with PalmOS. I used them to read, manage contacts, keep track of movies during festivals, write (I had a foldable pocket keyboard, and I did write at the time), to turn off televisions in restaurants (such a nuisance), and rarely to play solebon.

Solebon made them count as video game systems?

Windows CE (or Mobile in this case) was far more performant than any modern smartphone OS, but Microsoft seems to be doomed to always fail in the embedded systems market. Also, there was no power off, only standby

Was about to ask if anyone actually got any real work done on these things, but I guess this answers it, even if a foldable keyboard is almost cheating.

If the Spectrum counts, then I suppose I can mention this one.

It had simple text-based games, a BASIC interpreter that got me into programming, and a 32 KB expansion cartridge which no shop here imported Still have the bag.
