Hi again, folks.

Mageia has come out with another distribution release.

Rémi Verschelde has announced the release of Mageia 5. Mageia is a community distribution which started as a fork of the Mandriva project, but which now operates as an independent distribution
More info on the DW link below:

Distribution Release: Mageia 5 (DistroWatch.com News)

You can install this distro with either the Cinnamon, Gnome, LXQT, which apparantly as per the distro's web site replace razorqt, Enlightenment Window Mgr, Mate, XFCE which is super good for low resource consumption, KDE, LXDE and :

....Light window managers
Mageia 5 also provides a plethora of small and efficient window managers such as afterstep, awesome, dwm, fluxbox, fvwm2, fvwm-crystal, i3, icewm, jwm, lightdm, matchbox, openbox, pekwm, sugar, swm, windowmaker.
The release notes are here at this link:

Just so you know, this distro uses RPM. So if you like RPM distro's like fedora, for example, and you are familiar with these types of distros, you should be at home then. From what I see in the cauldron, it still uses Gnome 3.14. Not the Gnome 3.16. That isn't really an issue though, if you consider it thoroughly. But does use linux-image 3.19.8.

I would highly reccommend reading the errata found here if you have long-term interests in this distribution. Especially the boot options:

Enjoy your day.
