Swine flu is still around? I thought it had gone out of style six years ago

The swine flu panic of '09 was fun in a wicked, sick, twisted sort of way. There were many jokes about X classmate being "swiney" and whether you'd get the flu if you used a condom. Alcohol rub showed up out of nowhere (you'd think they had just invented it) and remains fashionable to this day. In my area, many shops and cafes would bar you from entering if you had a cough. The winter school break lasted twice what it usually does, because... well, I forgot, but it had something to do with the flu. That's what the authorities told me

Also, I just e-mailed her to see if we could meet again before she starts college at the end of this month. And if the answer is yes, I've got a little surprise in store

Having met a new girl during the past week, I've realized just how hard of a time I have trying to bond with other females.
My friends told me she is usually a bit withdrawn and doesn't really say anything, but this time (with me there) she was constantly paying attention to what I had to say and laughed a lot and tried to participate in the convo. I figured this would be hella easy to bond with her, but so far I've gotten 1 sentence on facebook a day out of her :/

    Good luck with yours, anon

Well, speaking face to face involves a lot more overhead than typing stuff1. Often people feel more relaxed with the latter, because of isolation and saying whatever you want to say being as easy as pressing some keys. But I guess those very things may also be seen as a disadvantage.

I once read an interesting article about how in China, most people see the "real world" and Internet as two completely different and separate planes, even if they use the latter to talk with others they know under their real identity.

Summary: log out of Facebook and meet her more often.

1 = this is why I hate talking on the phone, it blurs the line between these two. That and trying to speak at the same time then pausing to let the other do it but you can't see they're about to, low sound quality, etc.

It's not that easy. She's a friend a friend brought with her.
"hey wanna hang out" is really awkward at this point, as I don't actually know her (yet).

Just received a whopping 5 messages at once. I'm a bit nervous opening them as I'm rather doubtful about their content. I tend to be pushy when I get little response.
Especially since the part that shows on Facebook is "i would like to come back to your first message [...]", which is the one where I said I would like to get to know her.

It's a bit silly that I'm nervous about it, seeing I'm at the point of getting married anyway. My feelings are weird and unable to be comprehended!

And then it turned out exactly as I was expecting it : "you seem really fun and nice but my mind is not up to it right now"

Why do I even bother? -.-
Kind of like that slap in the face I didn't really need right now, pushing me right back to being a hermit.
    Thanks

I had that same feeling when I saw "Inbox (1)" yesterday. "What if I'm being too pushy/heavy asking her out again"

Ultimately, you won't know if you don't try. Also, just because she said no to your Facebook message doesn't mean she will be erased from your reality forever. Who knows what may happen in another future meetup...

That future meet up is the coming weekend.. Honestly a bit too soon to have fully relaxed me. Things are just gonna be awkward now....
    Thanks
