i dont think they've made graphics cards with ddr3 for a few years now.. i would ignore that

Check first if the store/manufacturer allows you to add more RAM to the laptop WITHOUT voiding warranty. In the past, there were such issues.
And tell me, why 4GB and 8GB?

well they allow to upgrade I think.. when I went to Lenovo showroom they told me if I wanna upgrade my ram they can do it.. so I guess warranty doesn't get void..
2 gb is less I gues that's why I wanted to add 4 gb more to 1 unsed slot
I'll call them in the morning and make sure of the warranty thingy

You don't use the available slot but both 2 slots. The memory they give you is crap, you will replace that with 2 new modules.1 unsed slot

Honesly, I don't know. Couldn't find any info on the laptop itself except that it has DDR3; but which type of DDR3? What frequency?

Just so everyone know.. My lappy arrived 4 days back. And yesterday i installed windows 8.1 as the driver CD was for windows 8.1.. Although i downloaded classic shell start button for windows 8.
I love this laptop .Its sleek n sexy and performance is awesome ..

You have it install that RAM you bought? Working well?
Why have you installed Windows 8? You'll be much satisfied with Windows 7. Drivers should work with seven as well.

No not yet.. Actually they mistakenly send the wrong ram. 1333mhz .. i ordered what u said transcend 1600 mhz.. i returned it.. It should come by next week.. Then i'll go to lenovo center n ask them to put it in :)
i already have 7 in old laptop besides i was not sure of the drivers .. I thought they won't work in 7. Well i have installed classic windows 7 button on 8 from here

Verify that your drives are working correctly in 7, and if everything works out OK use only 7.
That 7 button you are talking about will have to start with windows. That's another few CPU cycles and MB of RAM wasted for useless functionality.
A word of wisdom: Install only the drivers that you need. If you don't need USB 3.0 or WebCam, DO NOT INSTALL THEM as they will eat your resources.
This goes for every driver on their site. Even if it says SATA drivers, they are not needed.
Do not install other software from them, like benchmarks, fan control etc.
