btw. in case someone wondered, such a balance is impossible to alter or change or destroy - one can only work with/within the balance, not against it - or in other words: whatever happens, regardless of its magnitude or importance, it still won't affect 'the balance' (ie. 'the cosmos' moves on as expected)

I watched the trailer few weeks ago. I think the movie will be trash. Tatum looks stupid with the beard and the story sounds strange. The only reason I will watch the movie is Mila Kunis of course.

- 'destined for great things' = transcendence
- 'the one true love of my life' = god (the one true love of all manifested things, true love = unconditional love, the original archetype)

- 'destined for great things' = great achievements (saved the earth/species/family from the harvest, enjoys her life again)

- pretty good cgi, large locations, slow-motion holographic projections
- boromir lives!

- nonsensical plot
- what believability
- cramming all kinds of conspiratorial-related ideas (gray aliens, reptilians, human harvesting, overpopulation, alien royalty owning earth, life-extending eugenics, genetic modification/splicing/genetically re-purposed beings, human testing/abductions, even crop circles, end of dinosaurs)
- borrowing stuff from others, examples: almighty bureaucracy from potter or gilliam, house of arrakis, i mean Abrasax (dune), flash gordon (hovercraft, winged soldiers, s(he) saved every one of us... as sung by 'queen' lol), hunger games (fashion), x-men (makeup, wolverine, i mean wolfman), underworld (Lycantant, lycan mutant), guardians of the galaxy (vibe? lol), etc.
- overdone flashy & speedy video-game-like action, silly manual ship controls (similar to those from pacific rim) or free-floating vessel/ship design
- nonsensical solutions (one ship vs. planetary defenses, one wolf-man vs. planetary defenses, head-on attack when outnumbered, collapsing planetary structure due to one ship intrusion,...)
- the russians? the english? the commonwealth (in space)?
- unconvincing aliens or their fashion
- fascination with stars (a telescope holds the answers) - this is a metaphor for heaven, to look into spiritual matters, enlightenment (telescope returns once jupiter is more mature, astrology was right about her)
- 'lets snatch the scientist's telescope and kill him' intro, cannot get jupe's dna until she turns ~30
- many extreme in-your-face camera angles
- kunis looked somewhat plump (intentional? fertility statues), never resembled or behaved like a queen (but did not abandon the position either) - her role is used as a symbol of maternal-worshiping religions, the goddess worship (the mother or queen as mentioned many times throughout the movie)
- sky-skating gets a lot of air-time, and the military still uses wings!
- compare kunis acting and the regenerated sister acting when they share a scene (57'), this user explains it in his own way:

Mila Kunis has two expressions: slightly frowning, or dead-eyed stare. I'm certain she's been told too many times that she has "pretty eyes", because she refuses to change their expression. As such, she is posing, far, far more than "acting", throughout the entire film. In fact, I have yet to see her act, and this movie offers no new evidence.

Kunis has zero emotional awareness, as many sociopaths might experience. If you can't feel emotions, and you want to act, this is the result, every time.

Don't believe me? Watch her eyes throughout the movie; if you can bear the pain. I guarantee you, on a brain scan, her emotional centers are either stunted, or non-existent.

Channing Tatum's not much better. He's more like watching a football or basketball player turned actor. Nothing going on, and his makeup is ridiculous, like someone dressed him up as their cute, pet emo-dog. The opposite of intimidating, and as equally expressionless as Kunis.

conclusion: as another imdb user mentioned: 'jupiter ascending... the wachowskis descending '

moral of the story? what would happen in space if ignorant humans could colonize it (space-age colonialism)? the same things that happened in any colonized country of the past (exploitation galore, shown in the movie) - in current times, one may think of the main royal characters as representing mega-corporations, in past times as analogous to ruling aristocracy - notice their insatiable greed as a historical constant (also caused by ignorance of how to deal with negative desires such as greed or their meaning)

This film looks like a big LOL. Here's why. The way I read the excerpt of what the film is about is that it starts off with astrology.
Astrology has no 'real world' science that proves that this pseudo-what-ever works.

Apparently the actress in this film was given signs that she would change the world/galaxy/universe in some way. Firstly, there are no supportive claims that astrology can change the future let alone it even provide indications that it can change the future. Horoscopes, believe it or not, have been shown under some of the most rigorous scientific analysis to fail completely in predicting any kind of future event. There are no scientific trends that indicate that physical traits are related to astrological traits. For example, Gemini are not more bald or brave or selfless than someone who is a Leo or a Pisces.

Also, I still can't figure out what planetary mechanisms (for example, the planet Jupitor or Mars, or Venus, or even our Sun) have over the future or physical, emotional, social constructs of people. Can you help with that? Unlikely that you can as scientists within the realm of psychologists, Astro-psysicists, Astro-biologists, Bio-chemists can't determine that either.

Finally, because this movie starts off with the idea that the protagonist was given some "sign' that she is destined for greater things, did you know that everyone's astrological "sign" is wrong. Yup. That's right. And that's even being said if you believe in astrology. Here's why: The Zodiac charts were set more than 1800 years ago. Since then the position of our Earth relative to other heavenly bodies in the galaxy and elsewhere within has shifted. The earth is spinning on its axis. It has been wobbling like a top. Probably will continue to do so for a bit more.

the movie term come's from entertainment purposes .meaning a way to have fun,relax movies can be movies that make them laugh, while for others it can mean movies that make them cry, or feel afraid (wiki)..the movie purpose is fictional story mostly ,excepting the documentary's , so what's the point on searching a real meaning in something that is designed to entertain ? if you want real facts or so called real facts watch history or discovery

you want only oscar movies ? sorry ...that type of movies has stopped to be released since 2000..shame...they will not be back no mather how long ar hard people start complaining

bottom line : i watched the movie, it was pretty good considering the fact that SF movies market is pretty dry , but i was not paying attention to the ears of Channing Tatum in the movie, the fact that it flyes with his boots or other insginificant BS...like "the spoon in the kitchen was on the left side of table instead right -> movie suck

I have to agree. I too love analyzing a movie, but not to the point where they lose their charm. And even the best ones can, at some point ... Hell, I've seen my favourite movie enough times that I can point out enough details to make it sound like the worst movie ever. But refusing to do so lets it stay on my little pedestal .

I think searching a real meaning is flawed for a lot of movies, especially ones like this one. A movie like this one is meant purely for entertainment.


Also, on a sidenote: I feel like movies with deeper meaning etc have stopped since the general population feels a bit more dumb to me every single day. Maybe it's just me being a pessimist, but every time something with a deeper meaning gets released these days, it's either completely missed or complained about for being too complicated. Since movie makers are trying to earn their buck, it's the general population they're trying to please.
